Bittersweet: Resigning from CASA Board

Bittersweet: I resigned as board member at Boulder Voices for Children at the end of my second two-year-term this January. I’ve been involved with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) programs for the past fifteen years: Child Advocates of Placer County (northern California), CASA of Travis County (Austin, TX), and Voices for Children CASA of Boulder County (Colorado). These organizations, three among hundreds around the country, provide highly trained and passionate volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children, often the one trusted person in their sometimes tumultuous lives. Our volunteers and staff work diligently–and passionately– with the local courts and other community partners in efforts to provide these children with safe homes and the opportunity to thrive.

Our local organization has grown exponentially since I joined the board four years ago: serving 100% of the kids who need a CASA, expanding our programs to include Truancy and Kids in Court, a pilot Juvenile Justice Program and soon a new building to meet the needs of our volunteers, staff, and opportunities for more service in the community. The board is well positioned to continue forward in these exciting times. So so proud to have been intimately involved with this work. I look forward to continuing to be a community advocate and dedicated donor to help them achieve their goals.
